Ubud - Bali
The town of Ubud, located in the central part of the Indonesian island of Bali, is known as a center for traditional dance and crafts. The rainforests and rice terraces that surround Ubud, along with temples and shrines, are among Bali’s most famous landscapes. There are ancient sacred sites, including the intricately carved Goa Gajah and Gunung Kawi, a shrine carved out of stone.
Ubud (Balinese script: ᬳᬸᬩᬸᬤ᭄) is a traditional village and a tourist destination located in the central region of Bali, Indonesia.
Ubud is especially famous among foreign tourists because it is located between rice fields and ravines that create beautiful natural scenery. In addition, Ubud is known for its rapidly developing and advanced arts and culture. The pulse of Ubud society cannot be separated from the arts. There are also many art galleries here, as well as music and dance performance arenas that are held every night alternately in all corners of the village.
Ubud has been famous among western tourists since the 1920s. At that time, German painter; Walter Spies and Dutch painter; Rudolf Bonnet settled there. They were assisted by Tjokorda Gde Agung Sukawati, from Puri Agung Ubud. Now their works can be seen at the Puri Lukisan Museum, Ubud.

Including works of art during the Pita Maha era.
Puri Agung Ubud
Puri Agung Ubud Krisnakusuma is located right in the heart of Ubud. It was the center of government of the Ubud Kingdom in ancient times, as well as a center for arts and cultural activities, which were held right in front of the palace. Puri Ubud still has a spatial layout and buildings that are maintained as they were originally. In the front yard, after the gate, there is an area called Ancak Saji. Here once a week, dance performances are held for tourists. And every day, gamelan practice is held by various music art groups in Ubud. All art activities further thicken the atmosphere of Ubud as a village with an artistic perspective.
Wanara Wana
Wanara Wana or Monkey Forest, (better known as Monkey Forest) is a sacred forest area located in the Ubud area, precisely in the Padangtegal traditional village area, Ubud. In this forest there is a herd of monkeys numbering in the hundreds, who have inhabited this area for hundreds of years. In this area there is also Pura Dalem Padangtegal, which was founded in the early 20th century. The temple has very ancient and artistic architecture and ornaments. You can also look for the holy spring under the hidden Komodo Statue, which when drunk, is believed to cure all kinds of diseases.
Rudana Museum
The Rudana Museum is an art museum located in Ubud, Bali, which was founded by Nyoman Rudana, a painting collector who also sat as a member of the Regional Representative Council (DPD) representing the Province of Bali for the 2004-2009 period and was inaugurated by President Soeharto on December 26, 1995. This museum holds more than 400 paintings and sculptures by artists, both from Bali, Indonesian artists outside Bali and works by foreign artists who make Bali their place of work. Tirta Empul
The Tirta Empul Holy Water Temple is located in the village of Manukaya, near the town of Tampaksiring, not far from Ubud, in the Gianyar Regency, the cultural heart of Bali. The temple is situated just below the Presidential Palace of Tampaksiring. Built-in 1957 by Indonesia’s first president, Soekarno, the beautifully built palace itself is an important landmark of the island and the country. Together with the Presidential Palace, the Tirta Empul Holy Water Temple provides some of the most fascinating views you will ever see.
As a petirtaan or bathing center, Tirta Empul is quite a large temple complex and it takes at least 30 minutes to an hour to explore the entire site. Just as at other temples and sacred sites around the island, you will need to put on a ‘sarong’ before entering the premises. The sarongs are available at the temple’s entrance and can be rented for a small donation.
